We are a diverse community of independent designers, illustrators, UX creatives, artists, and educators — all based in the Netherlands and united by one goal: helping you become the designer you want to be. We believe in creative growth through hands-on learning, professional guidance, and a warm, supportive atmosphere.

Founder
Hi, I’m Francisca — founder of Art and the City, visual designer and teacher. After working for years in the creative industry as a designer and art director, I started this school to make graphic design education more personal, accessible, and inspiring.
At Art and the City, we believe design is more than just software — it’s a mindset. Our mission is to guide you from curiosity to confidence through hands-on lessons, creative projects, and expert feedback.
When I’m not designing or teaching, I’m probably painting, writing, or dreaming up new ideas — usually over a strong oatmilk coffee.

Ralf holds a degree in Media Arts from AKI ArtEZ. He works as an independent visual artist and teacher, alternating between Kenya and Amsterdam, and brings a strong conceptual approach to design and education.

Attalan graduated from the Industrial Design program at TU Eindhoven (TU/e). He now works as a digital UX designer, combining digital tools with physical design processes. His focus lies in the interaction between form and function.
