frequently asked questions

About Art and the City, the courses, Adobe, and graphic design!

Absolutely! Firstly, you can use the free version for 7 days. After enrollment, you’ll receive information on how to get the access to the discounted student subscription. You then pay 19.66 instead of 60.49! This subscription gives you access to the complete Creative Cloud.

The basic courses are suitable for beginning designers with no prior education. No experience = no problem!

The diploma is a quality mark which gives you proof that you can handle the three main Adobe programs. Art and the City and the diploma are recognized by the NRTO and CRKBO.

However, a coherent, creative and inspiring portfolio is essential for a beginning graphic designer. The better this is – and the more time you are prepared to put into it – the greater the chance of success.

Most teachers with Art and the City use Apple, but the purchase of a laptop is very personal, so choose what suits you best. It depends on your budget, what you’re used to, what else you like to do on it, etc. Art and the City recommends a laptop with SSD drive, unless you have a Macbook Pro. Also very useful: a second screen, an external harddrive and – if you dare – a wacom tablet.

The feedback you get in class from the teacher and your fellow students will help you develop further. Putting in the work, looking closely, copying and analyzing design elements are of great importance. It’s the only way to develop your own style and taste. In addition, work in an orderly fashion so you don’t lose any files!

No worries! Since the lessons are recorded, you’ll be able to watch back the full class and ask your questions via email. If you miss more than 1 lesson and feel like you’re falling behind, contact Art and the City and a suitable solution will be found!

Since the start of COVID in March 2020, Art and the City changed its tactics in order to offer its courses digitally with the same quality as the physical courses. This has pleased both teachers and students beyond expectations. Therefore, all group lessons will remain digital. Missed something? Zero problem! The lesson is recorded and you can watch it back in your own time, as many times as you like within 30 days. Do you prefer lessons on location? Then choose a private course! Please e-mail office@artandthecity.com for a quotation.
